The mildest version in the classic hot sauce line from Louisiana’s McIlhenny Company, Tabasco Jalapeno plays it straight. The flavor comes from the simplicity of Jalapeno peppers, vinegar and salt.
Bottles of green and red Tabasco are as common as ketchup in parts of the southeast US. Tabasco Jalapeno is the milder green bottle. (It’s big brother, the red-bottled variant, is made from Cayenne.)
This one is not very hot or exciting, but it’s popular because it works well on a wide variety of foods, and it’s reliable. It’s hard to find any fault with a bottle of Tabasco sauce. McIlhenny Company has been at it for 150+ years, since 1868, and they remain one of the top producers today for good reason.
